Annual Grasses

Some ornamental, or decorative, grasses are not frost hardy and so should be treated as annual plants in the Northeast Ohio garden. Such graceful grasses do grow quickly and make an excellent statement when used as a thriller, or centerpiece, in a large container, and they also do well as an accent in the landscape. Species of Cyperaceae Papyrus, Juncus, and select Pennisetum all perform well as annual grasses.
