Right around Thanksgiving, fresh-cut Christmas trees arrive at Petitti Garden Centers. Our entire selection is comprised of Fraser Firs sourced from Cline Church Nursery, a family-owned, 700-acre tree farm located in the Fleetwood, North Carolina region of the Blue Ridge Mountains since 1977. Cline Church Nursery practices responsible farming. Each tree has grown for nearly a decade while doing the important work of sequestering carbon, stabilizing soil, and providing refuge for wildlife. When the trees are harvested, new saplings are planted to grow in their place.

#1 Select Your Tree | Browse a veritable forest of suspended trees ranging 5 to 11 feet tall in our Annuals greenhouses. From this cool & comfortable vantage point, you can easily spin the trees, inspect their branches, experience their citrusy scent, and find just the right one.
#2 We’ll Take It From There | Let any Petitti tree associate know you’re ready, and we’ll issue you the purchase ticket for the tree you’ve selected. Then we’ll take the tree down, give it a fresh cut (opening pores to absorb tree stand water), and bundle it up for transport.
#3 Check Out with Ease | Present your purchase ticket at any checkout. Our tree associate will load and secure the tree onto your vehicle, and off you go!

Why Fraser Fir?
The benefits of Fraser firs are many. They naturally offer a dense, Pyramidal form to achieve that perfect shape. Strong limbs hold ornaments and retain their soft, dark blue-green needles for the whole holiday season. What’s more, they add outstanding holiday fragrance to the home. Fraser firs are so favored, they’ve been used as Christmas trees in the White House more than any other kind!
Fraser fir (Abies fraseri) is named for Scottish botanist John Fraser, who collected and studied it in the late 1700’s. It is native to the Appalachian Mountains and grows most naturally at high elevations in North Carolina.

Care Guide
- Remove the bottom 1-2 inches of trunk before placing it into the tree stand (we do this for you at purchase).
- Place your tree away from the dry, blowing air of heating vents.
- Mix Prolong® tree preservative into the water the first time you fill the tree stand to help your tree absorb more water and to keep the needles fresher, longer.
- Spray your tree with Wilt Stop® anti-desiccant spray to create a protective foliage coating that seals in moisture and slows the process of drying out.
- Light your tree with LEDs because they run 20% cooler than incandescent lights.
- Maintain water at all times so the cut end of the trunk is always covered.
- Mist your tree with water daily or occasionally to maximize fragrance.

Post-Season
Christmas Tree Recycling
When holiday festivities have ended and it’s time to start putting the decorations away, consider recycling your fresh-cut tree. Most local park systems, including Summit Metro Parks, recycle thousands of trees each year. Recycled trees are turned into ‘Merry’ Mulch and used by crews to create landscaping compost and beautify parks throughout the year.
If recycling via local parks is not an option for your community, another fantastic way to reuse your fresh-cut tree post-holiday is by propping it up on the deck or back porch for the birds to use as shelter.

In 2023, the award-winning growers at Cline Church Nursery were selected by the National Christmas Tree Association for the special honor of presenting a Fraser fir to serve as the official indoor White House Christmas Tree. The 18.5-foot tree was chosen in the field mid-October, ceremoniously cut & shipped mid-November, then presented to the First Lady and adorned in the Blue Room of the White House in time for Thanksgiving.
