It’s back! After taking an unavoidable break last year, we’re thrilled to resume our limited edition, hand-painted Petitti Cleveland Ornament™ series this season, a Petitti tradition that recognizes a different signature destination from the Greater Cleveland Area each year. To make up for lost time, both the 2022 and 2023 editions will be available in stores beginning Thursday, November 2nd while supplies last. In celebration of the mighty Cuyahoga as Northeast Ohio’s most iconic natural, industrial, and cultural resource, the 2022 ornament honors the Cuyahoga River while the 2023 ornament commemorates the Cuyahoga Valley.

This ornament depicts the beautiful stretch of rural landscape situated along the Cuyahoga River between Akron and Cleveland, and is inspired by popular landmarks like Brecksville-Northfield High Level Bridge and the area’s beloved and recognizable railroad trains. Covering more than 32,500 acres, the valley’s natural attractions include forests, hills, ravines, wetlands, rivers, and waterfalls.

This ornament honoring the “mighty Cuyahoga” depicts the river as it bisects the City of Cleveland, serving as a natural centerpiece to the city’s major industrial center. The recognizable skyline is present, and the working river is shown carrying the 639-foot Mark W. Barker, christened in 2022 as the first freighter to be built on the Great Lakes in nearly 40 years. On its way to Lake Erie, the ship masterfully navigates the tight bends of the crooked river, once famously affected by industrial pollution, but more recently acknowledged as American Rivers’ “River of the Year” in honor of 50 years of environmental resurgence.

The 2019 Petitti Cleveland Ornament featuring Inner Harbor is available in limited quantities by request for the 2023 Holiday Season. If interested, please contact your nearest Petitti location to place a special order for this ornament while supplies last. The ornament features an artist depiction of the inner harbor with a skyline view of Downtown Cleveland as seen from Voinovich Bicentennial Park. The popular destination is home to E. 9th Street Pier and world-class venues including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Great Lakes Science Center, and FirstEnergy Stadium (home of the Cleveland Browns). $39.99 each
