About the Woodland Phlox

Woodland Phlox (Phlox divaricata) is an Ohio native, shade-loving perennial that produces clusters of lightly fragrant blooms in spring. Perfect for attracting pollinators to shade gardens and woodland areas, it brings soft color and elegant texture to the landscape. Its native roots make it tolerant of our clay soil, however, it may go semi-dormant in too much heat and sun. Browse online our available varieties of Phlox.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in fall when necessary.
