About the Panicle Hydrangea shrub or tree

This reliable hydrangea family is well known for awesome blooming ability, adaptability and cold hardiness, making it one of the easiest and low maintenance flowering plants in the landscape. Available in tree and shrub form, this deciduous plant puts on a stunning display of cone-shaped, cream or lime green to varying shades of pink flower clusters midsummer to autumn on new wood every year. The blooms cam be full panicles or lacy, and can reach 12″ in length! Panicle hydrangea provide delightful color to the landscape when other plants are in decline, especially fall and winter interest. Plant as a specimen tree, in a mixed border, as foundation plants, or in a fresh or dried cut flower garden. The most sun and drought tolerant of all the hydrangeas. Care Notes

Plant in well-drained to moist, amended soil. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water once a week the first year. Prune in late fall to early spring to control size and form, down to a 10-12″ ball. Deadhead flowers anytime for repeat blooming. Reduce stems for larger flowers, keep more stems for small flowers. Feed early spring and mid-summer with a slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
