Thunbergia alata

black eyed susan vine

About the Black Eyed Susan Vine

This vigorous climbing and trailing annual vine with medium size trumpet flowers in shades of yellow, orange and bicolors and a black central eye grows extremely well in hanging baskets, in container gardens, climbing up a trellis, or sprawling across the garden making a cheerful “spiller” or “thriller” all through the growing season.

Care Notes

Grow in sunny areas, well-drained, amended soil. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Plant-tone®. Follow label instructions. Trim once a month if growing leggy. Excellent self-cleaning annual that is easy maintenance and repeat blooming. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
