Galium odoratum

sweet woodruff

About the Sweet Woodruff

Charming herbal ground cover spreads in moist areas with gleaming white, star-shaped flowers that bloom in late spring. Can be used in shady rock gardens, as an edging plant, or a quick naturalizing ground cover under a tree. Sweet fragrance exudes when the stems are cut or crushed.

Care Notes

Plant in moist, well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring and fall when necessary.
