These small, hybrid azaleas are forced into bloom in late winter/spring in a warm greenhouse and retain their evergreen foliage year-round. Blooms are 1-2″ in diameter and are often double or semi-double in display. Some also feature ruffled petals. The clusters of flowers present on woody stems above dark green, oval leaves. They are meant to be enjoyed indoors, as a gift plant or colorful houseplant for approximately 3-4 weeks of bloom time. Expose them to bright indirect light, average soil moisture, high humidity, and cooler indoor temperatures (55-65°F) for longer lasting blooms.

To make these exquisite blooms last as long as possible, provide bright indirect light and cooler indoor temperatures. Water thoroughly and allow the pot to drain, making sure that the plant isn’t left to sit in water. Using distilled water or rainwater is best for florist azaleas. Avoid placing the plant in direct sun or near hot, drying heating vents. Prune off spent flowers to encourage more blooms and to keep the plant looking fresh and tidy.  Fertilize with Osmocote spring and summer.
