About the Sunflower

The annual sunflower is a cheerful signal of late summer and soon to arrive autumn! Our ‘Mammoth’ Sunflower is available in Angelo’s Farm Market Veggies because it produces large yields of tasty sunflower seeds, but the new breed or repeat blooming sunflowers is what we are featuring in this section! Look for more compact sunflower varieties with strong, multiple branches and an abundance of showy small to medium sized blooms that continue to flower throughout most of the growing season and still attract loads of pollinators such as the Sunfinity® Sunflowers!

Care Notes

Grow in sunny, well-drained, amended soil or in containers. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Plant-tone®. Follow label instructions. Repeat flowering, but deadhead as needed to maintain better blooming and a tidy habit. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
