Liriope muscari

lily-turf

About the Lily-turf

A compact clump of deep green or variegated, thick, grassy foliage with a flowing, fountain like habit that produces pale violet, grape hyacinth type flowers in late summer which mature to blue-black berries in the fall. Liriope makes a great evergreen edging plant for year round interest under shade trees or in the front of a perennial border.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained to moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Shear or mow foliage in spring to encourage new growth. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
