About the Impatiens, SunPatiens, Doubled & New Guineas
The popular Impatiens family is a very easy to grow annual plant for shady spots, as well as a wonderful butterfly attractant. Their well branched, bushy habits are capable of filling front borders and container gardens quickly. Look for the classic bedding types in a multitude of colors and mixes along with the double flowering varieties that resemble petite rosebuds. New Guinea Impatiens produce showy extra large blooms, and are the parentage of the remarkable SunPatiens. SunPatiens can be planted in sun or shade, produce large, bushy masses of large, showy flowers, that never require deadheading! Care Notes
Grow in part shade to shady areas, well-drained, moist, rich soil or containers. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Plant-tone®. Follow label instructions. Deadhead and trim as needed to encourage more blooms and tidy habit. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. SunPatiens can grow in full sun to full shade and do not require deadheading.

Use as "fillers" in the shady landscape or container gardens combined with Torenia (spiller), Begonias (filler), and Coleus (thriller). SunPatiens make an excellent "filler" or "thriller" in sunny spots too, with Petunias (spiller), Euphorbia (filler), and Dichondra (spiller).
