About the Hosta, Plantain Lily
A large, diverse perennial family consisting of clump forming, bold foliage plants in shades of yellow, green, blue, and white with stripes, mottling, and numerous variegated patterns. Hostas are classified in miniature to extra large sizes, and their flower scapes vary from single to double, white, lavender, and purple blooms with some exuding strong, perfumed scents. There are slug resistant varieties, and others with good sun tolerance. Overall, Hosta are one of the easiest to grow shade plants in the landscape, and are well suited to container gardens too.
