About the Creeping Phlox

Creeping Phlox (Phlox subulata) is a low-growing, spreading groundcover that produces dense clusters of delicate blooms in early to mid-spring. From vibrant pinks to pastel purples and soft whites, there are plenty of options among these spring-blooming beauties. Generally considered deer-resistant, this Ohio native perennial thrives in full sun with well-drained soil, forming a dense, evergreen mat after blooms fade. Plant along the front of sunny borders with other pollinator attractants and ground covers. Browse online our available varieties of Creeping Phlox.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in fall when necessary.
