Gaura lindheimeri

About the Gaura

This plant is reminiscent of dainty, white, rose or soft pink butterflies fluttering in the wind on long and wispy, arching stems. Gaura is a fantastic cut flower and container plant that blooms prolifically if deadheaded. Best planted in sunny, well-drained gardens (Texas native).

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Cut back half way in late spring to reduce flower stem height. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall.
