foxglove

About the Foxglove

Foxglove produces medium to tall flowering spikes filled with beautiful, elongated bell-flowers in lavender, pink, peach, and white with traditional, brown spotted throats. Stems are thick and sturdy but may require staking in windy areas. Use in the cottage garden as a tall, showy backdrop, as a cut flower, or deer resistant plant.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained to moist, acidic, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Deadhead this biennial/perennial to keep a clean appearance, but let some seed develop and drop. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall.
