This annual scented geranium can be used as a fragrant, potted houseplant indoors or outdoors in the summer. Light green to chartreuse, palmate, fuzzy foliage with scalloped edges has a wonderful citrus aroma that it is known for, yet proves to possess low mosquito repellency. Like most annual geraniums they prefer sunny spots, average to slightly dry soil conditions, and can be an excellent potted plant or combines well with other sun loving annuals such as petunias. A standard is a topiary tree form with a straight trunk and the geranium on top. This large, light green, ruffled leaf, scented geranium produces a robust, citrusy fragrance and small, lavender-pink flowers. A.k.a. ‘Citrosa’ or “Citronella” geranium, making it a popular natural mosquito repellent and “filler” plant for containers and herb gardens. Brush or crush the foliage often to release its scent. Bring indoors for winter, not cold hardy in Northeast Ohio.
