This extremely aromatic, light green, upright-arching, tropical grass can make a statement in your annual herb garden or as a lemon scented “thriller” in a sunny container. Lower leaf sections and foliage are used as a superb lemon flavoring in Asian dishes. This plant can be wintered over indoors in a sunny window. Cut back to 6″ before bringing it inside in late fall. Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Garden-tone®. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. Harvest entire stems at the base in the morning. Freeze extra.
