Tropaeolum spp.

nasturtium

About the Nasturtium

Nasturtium is a compact annual flowering plant with a uniform, mounded to vining habit that grows best in full sun to part shade areas. Its vibrant, pollinator-attracting blooms stand tall above parasol-like, dark green foliage. They grow well in the garden beds, mixed containers, and window boxes. In addition to being beautiful annuals for flowering containers, they make fantastic companion plants for peppers and other vegetable plants—helping to deter pests and attract beneficial insects. Bonus? Their flowers and foliage are edible!

Care Notes

Grow in sunny areas, in well-drained, amended soil or containers. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Plant-tone®. Follow label instructions. Deadhead as needed; good repeat blooming. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
