How to Start Seeds in Recycled Containers

Video Recap

A great activity to do inside the house in early Spring is seed starting. It’s a great activity to do with the whole family and it yields delicious results! Watch this video with Noelle, Horticulturist and Education Director with Petitti Garden Centers, to learn how to start seeds with things from around the house. Noelle also teaches us how to start and use microgreens for extra nutrients year-round. The important thing to remember when starting seeds in recycled containers is to sterilize the containers. To sterilize, wash each container with hot, soapy water. Then, rinse them in a 10% bleach solution which is 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Once you have sterilized your containers, fill them with a seed starting soil mix and add in your favorite cold crop veggies like Lettuce, Swiss Chard, Broccoli and Radishes!
