Fall Pruning Do’s & Don’ts

Radio Show Recap

Noelle filled in for Angelo this week and talks about what you should and shouldn’t be pruning in the garden this time of year. She also gives advice for planting spring-blooming bulbs, transitioning houseplants indoors for winter, and general lawn and garden care for fall. PLUS she answers callers’ questions like “When should I prune my boxwood shrubs”, and “My blueberry bushes aren’t producing fruit, what should I do”?

When considering pruning this fall, remember to remove the 3Ds (disease, damage & dead) anytime. You can deadhead hydrangeas and roses now if you wish, but it won’t hurt the plant to leave them until spring. Leave all major pruning tasks for early next spring to avoid winter damage.
