Artemisia spp.

wormwood, artemisia

About the Wormwood, Artemisia

A lovely, hardy perennial family that produces clumping to spreading mounds of stunning, silvery-white, fine to bold textured foliage that gives an almost velvet like sheen and feel to the plant. Aromatic and easy to grow in poor soils, and makes a great companion to other salt-tolerant and neglect tolerant plants. They look their best in sunny gardens and containers combined with hot colored plants.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient poor soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Shear to rejuvenate foliage. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
