About the Viola, Perennial

Perennial Violas tend to exhibit a hardy, clump forming habit that establishes quickly in the garden producing medium sized, often fragrant pansy-like flowers in pastel colors with striping and mottling. More heat tolerant and hardier than most pansies, but needs a cool, shady spot for summer in the garden or in containers.

Care Notes

Plant in cool, moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer after shearing back tired flowers and foliage. Deadhead for neat appearance. Let self-seed in fall. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
