About the Shrub Rose, Landscape Rose

These roses are easy care shrub types, free-blooming and gaining popularity in the landscape every year with the development of new and better varieties. They are best known for own-root cold hardiness, excellent disease resistant foliage, and vigorous growth, bud and flower formation. The well-known Knock Out® Family began this trend and set a new standard for disease resistant, hardy, carefree shrub roses. Shrub roses suit every garden and outdoor lifestyle from container gardens to landscapes. Browse our selection of shrub rose varieties online.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, amended soil at least 2-3′ apart. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water once a week the first year. Prune down to 6-12″ in spring; blooms best on all new wood. Feed at least three times (full leaf, after first bloom, and in August) during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. Deadhead and clean around the base of the plant as much as possible. Keep an insect and disease control such as Neem Oil on hand.
