About the Plum Tomato
This tomato family is also known as paste or pear tomatoes. They tend to be medium sized with an oval to pear shape with a meaty, intense flavor. Little seeds and less juice makes these varieties easy to cook with, perfect for canning, sauces, and salsas. Both determinate (bush-type) and indeterminate (vine-type) varieties available in Angelo’s Farm Market, specifically selected for home growers to be productive, disease resistant, and flavorful. Look for the Italian heirloom, ‘San Marzano’, and the improved ‘La Roma’ and ‘Viva Italia’.
