pincushion flower

About the Pincushion Flower

An excellent pollinator attractant that forms clumping mounds of ferny, green to grey-green foliage that is covered in 1-2″ wide, blue-violet, daisy-like flowers with a tufted center that looks like a pinchusion. Use in the front of a sunny border, as a repeat blooming cut flower.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall when necessary.
