perennial bachelor’s button

About the Perennial Bachelor’s Button

A true garden classic with 2″ wide, vivid, cornflower blue flowers that possess interesting, fringed petals and central black tipped bracts. When in full bloom they exude a luscious peach fragrance. Foliage is an attractive green with a soft, silvery fuzz that keeps the deer away. Use in a cottage or cutting garden.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained to dry, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage repeat blooms. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring or fall every two years.
