About the Papyrus

Egyptian papyrus is a tall sedge that can be used as a heat tolerant, exotic, annual grass with deep green, bushy, upright umbrella stems perfect as a “thriller” for sunny water gardens, mixed containers and landscapes. Definitely a moisture lover! ‘Baby Tut’ is very popular dwarf variety growing about 2′ tall.

Care Notes

Grow in sunny, moist, amended soil or containers. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Plant-tone®. Follow label instructions. Trim as needed to maintain a tidy habit. Cut back and overwinter indoors in a cool, sunny area sitting in a drip tray filled with water. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
