About the Oriental Poppy, Icelandic

Stunning, 4-5″ wide, paper mache petal flowers with in jewel tones of red, orange, yellow, peach and white surrounding a glossy, black or golden pollen covered centers. Foliage is green, fuzzy, heavily toothed or lobed, and will die back when the plant finishes blooming. Plant in well-drained, sunny spots with other late spring bloomers and ground covers.


Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in fall when necessary.
