Transplanting Iris
Late summer is an excellent time to dig and divide spring and early summer blooming perennials such as Iris
This garden classic makes a beautiful deer resistant plant for part shade forming tall, upright spikes of distinct, hooded flowers in classic blue, purple, white and pink. Grow in a cutting garden with some support or at the back of a shady border.
Plant in well-drained to moist, average to rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
