About the Hardy Hibiscus

Hardy Hibiscus produces a 2-5′ tall, rounded, shrubby plant covered in soft green to bronze colored foliage, providing a bold texture effect in the landscape. Huge, 8-12″ wide, dinner plate size flowers of vibrant rose-pink, scarlet, white, plum and multicolor bloom vigorously in late summer. This makes an excellent perennial for late summer/early fall color, and for large containers. Shop our varieties of Hardy Hibiscus online now.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained to moist, moderate to nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Remove spent flowers to prolong blooming. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Cut down to 4″ late fall. Pinch in early June to control size.
