About the Blanket Flower

Blanket flowers are bold, native daisies that bloom in a mixture of hot colors including scarlet red, burnt orange to golden yellow. Attractive to all pollinators. Possesses excellent heat tolerance, deer resistance, and its species is native to Ohio. Plant in rock gardens or hot, sunny borders.


Care Notes

Plant in light, well-drained, nutrient rich to low fertility soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Intolerant of heavy clay. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer after removing spent flower stems to encourage reblooming. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
