About the Beets ‘Red Ace’
Angelo’s Farm Market veggies are specifically selected for home growers to be productive, disease resistant, and flavorful. Look for round and robust, ‘Red Ace’, an exceptionally early, rapid, uniform grower with medium-tall red veined greens and possesses wonderfully smooth, honey-sweet, tender roots. An easy to grow cool crop with hybrid vigor, increased disease resistance, and excellent weather tolerance. Use the root sliced or diced in salads, pickled or cooked. Greens harvested young (4-6″) can be used in salads or sautéed. Maturity: 50 days
Care Notes
Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Garden-tone®. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature.
