Eruca sativa

arugula

About the Arugula

Also known as Roquette, this spicy, dark green, deeply lobed, salad green is easy to grow and an excellent addition to any small vegetable or herb garden, including containers. Young, tender leaves can be harvested very early (2″ long), flowers are also edible, and more mature foliage can be used in stir-fry and sautéed dishes. Cut often and more will come; great cold weather crop. Maturity: 21-40 days

Care Notes

Plant in sunny, well-drained, nutrient rich soil or containers amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water once a week throughout the growing season. Feed with a slow release fertilizer, Osmocote® or Garden-tone®. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. Remove any flowering or seed production (bolting) to continue abundant leaf growth.
