Shrub Roses | How to Grow & Care for Landscape Roses

The Groundcover Rose class is very low maintenance with a spreading habit, free-flowering, and very good disease resistance. Drift® Roses are one of the most popular varieties in this class. They are a floriferous cross between full-size groundcover roses and miniatures. From the groundcover roses they kept toughness, disease resistance and winter hardiness. From the miniatures, they inherited a well-managed size and repeat-blooming nature. Groundcover roses are perfect for small gardens and combination planters; they brighten borders, fill empty spaces, and spread delicately around established plants.

Plant in well-drained, amended soil at least 2-3′ apart. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water once a week the first year. Prune down to uppermost new growth in early spring. Feed at least three times (full leaf, after first bloom, and in August) during the growing season with a slow release fertilizer. Follow label instructions. Mulch 2″ to suppress weeds, retain moisture and protect against extremes of soil temperature. Deadhead and clean around the base of the plant as much as possible. Keep an insect and disease control such as Neem Oil on hand.
Plant with Barberry, Panicle Hydrangea, Junipers, and sun loving perennials such as Salvia, Sedum and Coneflower.
