Tricyrtis formosana

toad lily

About the Toad Lily

Strong, upright, arching stems covered in brown speckled, deep green leaves that produce the most extraordinary, petite, orchid-like blooms of pale lavender, pink or white dotted with rich burgundy spots and bright yellow stamens. This late season bloomer deserves a place close to a wooded path for the onlooker to enjoy.

Care Notes

Plant in moist, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Deadhead spent flower clusters down to lateral buds. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
