About the Stoke’s Aster

Stoke’s Asters possess the most stunning, 3-4″ wide, vivid, lavender to periwinkle to violet-purple, serrated flowers. A showy, garden beauty for pest resistant plantings, cut flowers for a vase, or in containers. Combine with other garden favorites like Salvia, Coreopsis, Black-eyed Susans, Veronica and grasses.


Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Deadhead spent flower stems for neat appearance. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary. Mulch heavily for winter.
