About the Lewisia

A fantastic, spring blooming rock garden plant that forms low rosettes of green, succulent leaves over which multicolor star shaped flowers bloom in hues of pink, orange, yellow and white. They require excellent drainage, and are drought tolerant once established. Try growing them in sunny, but cool containers to extend their bloom period.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, dry soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring and summer when necessary.
