Caryopteris clandonensis

blue mist spirea

About the Blue Mist Spirea

A wonderful addition to the late summer and fall garden, cooling all of the rich, riotous reds, oranges and golds of autumn with its misty clusters of deep periwinkle blue flowers. This tight, shrubby, late blooming perennial is a perfect companion to fall mums, grasses, and late blooming perennials. It also makes an excellent pollinator plant for a sunny garden or container.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, nutrient rich soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Iron-tone in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer. Cut to 6″ in spring to encourage lush new growth. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary. Propagation prohibited.
