About the Baby’s Breath

Baby’s breath is a vigorous, cutting garden staple producing clusters of sweetly fragrant, airy, white, star-shaped flowers on long stems above medium green, spiky foliage for containers or rock gardens. An excellent “filler” in flower arrangements, and makes a good dried flower.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, alkaline, low nutrient soil amended with organic matter like Petitti Planting Mix. Water well after planting; maintain 1” of water, once a week the first year. Use Plant-tone and Ironite in spring or at planting; apply Osmocote in summer after deadheading or shearing to encourage new blooms. Mulch 1-2” to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture. Divide in spring when necessary.
