But what’s the best way to care for them and how do you properly transplant them after the holidays?

Bringing the Tree Indoors

  • A gradual temperature switch is key to keeping the live tree healthy! We recommend moving your tree to an unheated garage or porch two days before you intend to bring it indoors.
  • Spray the tree with an anti-desiccant spray such as Wilt Stop® and keep it away from heating vents to minimize moisture loss in the warm, dry house.
  • Water your tree as often as necessary to keep the roots moist, but not soggy.
  • Live, potted Christmas trees should only stay in the home for 7-10 days. Then repeat the process of leaving them in an unattached garage or on a covered porch for a few days to acclimate them to the temperature shift before planting outdoors.
