If you have trouble keeping indoor flowers or plants alive, succulents are the answer to your plant problems. Succulents thrive in the simplest of environments, making them one of the easiest plants to take care of – and they’re super cute. Let’s begin!
create your own
succulent planter
step one
Select a container that enhances your indoor or patio décor. A galvanized caddy with some fun, rustic latches works great along with galvanized tubs and watering cans.
step two
Next, protect your container with a plastic liner or garbage bag (cut and tuck the edges after planting).
step 3
Apply 1 inch of pebbles or gravel to create drainage space.
step four
Fill the majority of the container with a cactus soil mix.
step 5
Select your favorite succulents or cacti, and pre-arrange them in the container.
step six
One by one, gently squeeze each plant pot, removing each plant gingerly and inserting each succulent’s root ball into the soil.
step seven
Fill soil in around each plant. Add additional soil where needed.
step eight
Finish the look of your DIY planter with a top dressing of decorative pebbles.
step nine
Water lightly with a water-soluble cactus fertilizer, and you’re done!
Remember, succulents prefer full sun to bright indirect light, and soil should be bone dry before reapplying water. Avoid overwatering, and enjoy!
