Morgan, perennial gardener

morgan

hudson, oh

An avid and lifelong gardener, Morgan prefers to spend as much time as possible in her yard and researching for her yard, continuously designing and crafting a home setting that reflects her passion for plants and her meticulous dedication to their care. With no formal irrigation system, Morgan wakes at 4am daily to water by hand. Just a few years ago, she and her husband built from scratch numerous garden beds along a plentiful stretch of fence, cutting out beds, preparing soil, and planting shrubs and perennials to form a dynamic space. Satisfied with what’s complete, Morgan is evolving her vision to include more annual color each spring.

why she gardens

challenges & opportunities

Morgan admits that working in the yard is her absolute favorite way to spend time. Every weekend that there is nothing else demanding her time, she can be found outside.

Even with the fencing Morgan has in place, the deer sometimes find a way in; and so Morgan focuses on repelling deer through the blended or alternating use of Plantskydd® granules and spray, Repels-All®, and garden sachet repellents.

where she’s going next

Morgan is excited to create more beds to beautify her fencing. She also looks forward to doing more with annual flowers and vegetable gardening. Even as she continues to evolve the back yard of her dreams, Morgan’s thoughts frequently move to the front yard experience, which she describes as a work in progress with a lot of question marks. With a straight face to the front of the house, a shallow bed that lines it, and a narrow walkway that runs the length of it, as well, Morgan does not have the opportunity to layer plants as she likes – and so she is considering options to completely renovate the front so that she has a home for the hydrangeas and yarrow that she envisions!
